Part 4: Locating Objects in the Sky

telescope viewing

You will now use a telescope to find and observe objects in the night sky. With your team, you will set up and align your telescope in an appropriate dark location. Describe the setup process in your lab write-up. Is the telescope on an equatorial mount or an altitude/azimuth mount? How do you align this telescope?

Your instructor will give you one or more objects to locate in the night sky. There are multiple methods you can use to find your targets. You might use one of the Star Wheels found in the lab, or a stargazing application on a tablet device or phone, for example.
