Part 1: Sizes of Exoplanets

To begin this lab, you and your team will construct a scale model of the Jupiter-Sun system. Your instructor has provided an object to represent the Sun and set the scale. Also provided are a number of spheres of different sizes mounted on stands. With your team, determine which sphere best approximates the size of Jupiter at the same scale as the model Sun, and place it at the appropriate distance from the Sun model.

Once all teams have made their selections, compare your results and discuss.
