The following four images were taken during a single night using the Rigel telescope in May 2002. For each image, separate exposures using B (blue), V (green), and R (red) filters were made with 20-40 second exposure times. The images were combined to form color images using the program MaxIm. Note that the colors are not necessarily representative of the true colors of these objects. For a larger view, click on the images.

 
 
 
 
M16 (NGC 6611) open cluster in Serpens, associated with the Eagle Nebula.
 
M17 (NGC 6618) diffuse nebula in Sagitarius. This nebula is sometimes called the Omega or Swan nebula.
