Dec 17 - Final course grades are available. The final exam had an average score of 75 (discounting a few students who did not take the final exam). The final exam key is also available. Have a great winter break!

Dec 10 - All observing test grades all posted and used to compute the overall grade list. Please let me know if you see any problems with your grades. Reminder: the final exam (Wed. 9:45 am in LR2) counts 150 pts and is comprehensive. The total points so far are 550 plus any extra credit points. Study past exams, the lectures, and the exam preparation lists (exam 1, exam3, exam4). Note: exam 2 study guide is missing - but study the lectures!

Dec 4- Exam 4 scores, along with Armageddon film extra credit, are now available on the overall grades page. Note that the observing test grade has NOT been used to determine the overall grade, since it is not yet due and some students haven't completed it. Please let me know if you find any errors or omissions (note that some observing grades for the past week may not be entered yet).

Dec 3 - Exam 4 key is available. (Note: question 19 had 2 correct answers!) I'll have scores posted later today.

Dec 2 - Exam 4 review session is tonight (Thursday Dec 2) at 7:30pm in LR 2. Also, I have posted PRS quiz 8 and also overall grades. Note that the overall grade list includes the observing exercise scores that I currently have, but they are not included in the overall grade computation.

Dec 1 - Armageddon FILM. The extra-credit question form (worth up to 25 points) is available in MS-Word and HTML format. Questions are due Thursday (Dec 2) by midnight. Please email the completed questions. (Note: question 3 corrected 12 noon Dec1). Note: If you didn't see the movie last night, you can still try to rent it and submit the questions.

Nov 17 - PRS Quiz 7 added to overall grades.

Nov 15 - Observing test grades are listed in overall grades, but not used to compute provisional overall grades.

Nov 11 - Exam 3 answer key posted; overall (current) grades , including exam 3, posted.

Nov 9 - Exam 3 review (PPT)

Oct 27. Grades page has been updated, includes PRS quiz 5.

Oct 21. If you have already started your observing exam list, please turn it in at lecture on Monday (All observing lists will be kept in a master binder and will be available to TA's during all clear sky patrol evenings.)

Oct 14. Exam 2 grades, along the a cumulative (provisional) class grade thus far are available on the grades page.

Sept 29. The observing list has been updated to include the Moon features we discussed last Friday. There's also a link to the Moon map I used in lecture. Also, there's a handy sky chart in the front of your textbook (use the Autumn map) for practicing before you take the observing test.

Sept 15. The first exam key and scores are both available (click on Exams button at left). Note that because of a typo in the lecture notes, question 25 was scored with both response (b) and (c) as correct [N.B. the year 1900 was not a leap year].

Sep 13. Register your PRS unit by clicking here. You will need you HawkID to log in. After you enter your PRS serial number, you will be assigned a PRS user number (between 1 and 100). It is important that you remember this number since it will be displayed when quizzes are given. I suggest you write it in a piece of paper and tape it to the back of your PRS unit. PRS units are sold at the IMU bookstore. They are selling both new ($31) and used ($8) units. The used units should be fine. Ask for these units in the Electronics Dept.

Note: The navigation buttons on the left side of this page use Macromedia Flash Player which is a free plugin for most Browsers. If you can't see the buttons at left, you can download the Flash plugin or use any of the University's ITC center PCs, or the Departments student PC clusters in room 201 or 665 VAN.
