029:050:00A/00B Stars Galaxies and the Universe Spring 2012

Laboratory (029:050:00B or 029:051:xxx)

Teaching Assistants:

The purpose of the laboratory is to help you obtain a better understanding of the concepts in your astronomy course by providing hands-on experience and physical examples, improve your research and analytical thinking skills, and help you become a better communicator of complex ideas and concepts.

Attendance at all lab sessions is required. All labs will be graded and will count toward your total lab grade. Make up labs are generally not possible. University policy is that a lab takes precedence over any out-of-class lectures or exams. In case of an unavoidable absence, contact your TA as soon as possible. Documentation, e.g. a note from a physician, is required for unavoidable absences.

Your grade in the laboratory course is based on weekly lab exercises and a final project. If you are enrolled in 029:050:00B, you must attend the laboratory and receive a passing grade to pass the lecture course. Students enrolled in 029:051:xxx will receive a letter grade based on the number of points earned on laboratory exercises.
